Week 2 of robotics camp was a success!

Innovation and fun are two words that describe our middle school robotics camp. Students began by building robots from scratch, quite literally! Empowered by our talented tutors, they learned to assemble and program their robots using Scratch, a basic coding program. After their robots came to life (a moment that thrilled us all), instructor Rhonda McRae introduced the students to an innovative new game, Buccaneers on Treasure Island.

Australia
Developed in Australia, Buccaneers was played for the first time in the Northern Hemisphere by Canopy students! Using no blueprints, students were tasked with building a catapult for their robot that could throw small, weighted balls at another robot.
Students used critical thinking, teamwork, and technology gained through hands-on learning to meet the catapult challenge. Rhonda captured valuable data as Canopy students navigated the challenges of the game, and Buccaneers is now ready to be released to robotics competitions around the world, creating new avenues for young minds to explore STEM (science, technology, engineering and math).

Donations Needed!

Your donations have been key in providing Canopy students with access to cutting-edge technology, exceptional instructors, and opportunities that ignite their passion for learning and for STEM.

Join us in celebrating the achievements of our Canopy Scholars, and invest in their future. To engage new students, we need additional LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Prime Sets and Chromebooks. When you give to Canopy, you empower students to engage in innovative learning experiences.
