An extraordinary celebration!

We came together as educators, community leaders, parents, supporters and friends to learn more about Canopy Scholars.

We experienced the richness of the Canopy Scholars community with a fabulous lunch and famous performers, saw the Canopy student leadership team in action, and there was even spontaneous dancing!

We had a wonderful time together and we raised $20,077 (more than our goal)!

Thank you everyone for your generosity – parents, for sharing your rich culture; student leaders, for sharing your strong relational and academic skills; and supporters, for sharing your finances.

Some of the fun moments of our day are captured below…

Educators, parents, tutors, and business people enjoyed conversations around the tables.

Canopy families created a feast of Eritrean and Ethiopian dishes – injera, doro wat, tibs, himbasha, all part of their traditional culture

Canopy’s student leadership team described the different elements of tutoring in Canopy’s elementary and middle school programs – and impressed us all!

We have two great artists at Canopy – we know them as the parents of four children, but in Eritrea, Senait is a fameous singer and her husband Efrem is a talented musician. They shared their culture with us by performing at Bloom and spontaneous dancing broke out!

We captured some moments on the red carpet…

The seed for Canopy Scholars was planted 20 years ago by Dr. Rose Madrid Swetman.

Rose started Canopy Scholars to help kids in her neighborhood thrive in school. Now, she is helping leaders around the world thrive as the Executive Director of the Center for Transforming Engagement.

She gave us a call to action – to be part of the Canopy community by investing in underserved students and to continue creating spaces for them to rise.

This video, Canopy in Action, was filmed and produced by Canopy’s student leadership team to show you at a day at tutoring.

high-dosage tutoring + strong relationships = empowered students (who experience joy)

Thank you for being part of the Canopy community!
